What is a lash lift?
A lash lift is an all-natural, semi-permanent procedure that curls your lashes upwards with a serum that keeps them in place. Boosted from the root of your lash, the process lifts and straightens your lashes out, to provide a fuller and longer look.
Another way to think of a lash lift is like getting a perm for your eyelashes. Unlike a lash extension, a lash lift simply alters the shape and colour of your natural lashes with keratin solutions.
What happens during a lash lift?
Broken down into three key steps, if you are looking to get your first lash lift, here’s what to expect.
You lie down on a beauty bed with your eyes closed throughout the whole process and your lash beauty therapist will perform her service.
Your therapist will place pads under your eyes and Silicone pads will be placed on the (closed) eyelids.
Your lashes will then be brushed upwards to stick to the Silicone pads where the first serum will be applied to start the lifting process.
Next, a keratin-infused fixing serum is applied which begins the process of restoring the lashes and conditioning them.
For those adding tint to their lashes, the colour is applied and the silicone pads are removed.
Finally, a coat of pure keratin is applied to the lashes, which provides an extra layer of protein to strengthen and condition them.
The process takes under an hour from start to finish, including the initial consult, getting set up, cleaning of your lashes (if needed) and pack-up time.
Will a lash lift damage your lashes?
Lash lifts will not damage your lashes if done properly. Getting your lashes lifted is a treatment application, similar to your hair treatments at salons, or brow lamination. If anything, lash lifts are good as the serums are filled with intense strengthening and moisturising solutions.
How long will the results last?
Results of a lash lift and tint last about 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the products being used and your particular lifestyle. For ocean and swimming pool swimmers, the results may only last 4 weeks.
